Default Jo's egg!!!!

I had posted about Jo under emergencies a couple of days ago. Well she went to the vets this am and they tried everything to help her lay the egg to no avail! They had to drain it and remove it!

I think she thought she was a HY!!!!!

Here it is!

OMG!!!! Im so worried my little Gofffins girl is gonna get an egg. Do they always get an egg regardless if its from mating? Or is it a diet thing?

They don't always lay, we have 2 other females that haven't. I don't think it is a diet thing, as mine don't get seeds are anything, we mix 3 different types of foods, Zupreem, Higgins dried fruit/veggie and Higgins Sunburst (has some seed but not much).

I think this was helped along by watching Kyla and Roarke attempting to nest! I have read that one can trigger others to lay.

I sure hope my little girl doesnt get one! I have a male Galah, an Ekkie and a Grey. I know they wont cross mate but with all of these boys around her, Im worried it could trigger hormones. I didnt mean to insinuate you gave your baby a bad diet! What I meant was, a calcium deficiency. I totally didnt mean to insult you! I hope you didnt take it that way.

I didn't take it that way at all, LOL!!!I was thinking that seeds seems to help the breeding behaviors along, and still can't figure it out since they don't get that much seed. I still think the two reds did this LOL!!!!

They actually need calcium to form the egg, they even gave her a shot of vitamins to try and help, but then the xrays showed it was way too large LOL!!!

Good Lord that's a big egg!! I remember some time ago someone else had an alex (I think) that ended up egg bound with a huge egg. They ended up having to give her a hysterectomy. The vet said it was equivalent to a human giving birth to a 15 pound baby! Can you imagine???
