i think budgies, since they carry such a low price tag and are readily available in almost every pet store. and then i would say cockatiels after that.

That would be my guess--1) budgies, 2) 'tiels, 3) canaries.

But I'll bet if everyone could have the bird they REALLY want, it would be a macaw :-).

Agree with Irish, my dream is a macaw, but.......... I know my dream requires a lot of time and I can't have my dream eating my pet, a dilemma for sure.

I would say budgies, tiels, and for the larger birds probably african greys.

Budgies, finches, canaries, tiels if we go by numbers... they are the cheapest and smallest thus the most popular.

I don't know if this is scientific but i've observed the prices over the last 6 years & i've noticed the fall in prices for other smaller Parrots. Like the GCC, Linnie & Lovebird & P'let. Strangely the Bourkes stays stable - maybe due to lack of mass production. This may affect their popularity - & add trouble no doubt.

Compared to the huge cost of a Macaw or other large Parrots, the price for a Budgie is ridiculous.

However i have to say the Budgie is a great bird - a wonderful bird companion & a laugh a minute.

I would say tho that Finches would be in the top for the most popular, right next to Budgies. Again lots less costly + readily available.

Tiel's are wonderful little guys too. They've got as much personality as any Grey, Too, or Zon in their own little way.

Right now I would say Tiels,P'lets,Linnies are big right now and GCC's. As for the bigger guys IMO it goes greys, eclectus, macaws then toos...But around my area Mutation GCC's,Linnies,P'lets, & Greys are the big sellers right now
