Bowie is sure a cute baby! |

I'd take another in half a heartbeat if I could find one.
Does the store have a website?
Suddenly I don't feel as special. |

Why wouldn't you feel special? Mango is one of the prettiest macaws I've ever seen, and I would have got HIM in a heartbeat if I could have. Yeah, he's not a yellow-dominant, but he is truly beautiful :-). I look at Mango, and see the rainforest and a tropical ocean in his colors. I suspect quite a few of us have hybrid macaws. Mango is prettier than my Kenobi, but I couldn't love Kenobi any more if he was the most beautiful bird in the world. I've seen yellow dominant macaws prettier than Bowie--but then, they were older, and had more molts under their belt. Bowie is in his "baby clothes" :-). I must admit to being partial to warm colors. Bowie certainly fits the bill!
Joyce, yes, I'm feeding Bowie, and Rowan is still handfeeding a bit each day, for that matter. Plus I handfed Ceilidh after Deb showed me how. I just refused to handfeed Mikey Blue at all--the thought of handfeeding something as delicate as a baby Hyacinth scared the crapola outta me!
Bowie's sister, Blondie, is still handfeeding on pretty much the identical schedule/amount of formula, and I assume their red dominant sister still at the bird store is, too. Don't ask me why--the vet says there's nothing physically wrong with Bowie aside from one very slightly elevated enzyme count, for which he's being treated. She seems to think it's ok, if a bit odd.... I have friends who hypothesize all sorts of reasons why, from the time of their development when they had their wings clipped in the store, to them just being spoiled. I figure they'll all wean when they're ready :-).

Noisy, of course :-). Not as noisy as when I come home from being somewhere else, though--when I walk in the door, it suddenly gets deafening! And as far as they're concerned, I'd better give them attention IMMEDIATELY, or pay the price :-).
They love watching bird videos, but they seem to get quieter rather than noisier. Arthur, especially, loves to watch his own kind. He is absolutely fascinated with other Greenwings. Someday, he may need a friend of his own species. It'll depend on his and Bob's friendship as they mature, I suspect. |
