My condolences. It is so hard to say goodbye to our companions. Cosmo is waiting for you out there, and I am sure the Fates are already arranging for you to find another bird to love when you and s/he are ready.

Oh honey - I feel so bad for you. You must remember that you gave Cosmo a wonderful life. He flew over the rainbow bridge smiling. I know firsthand how hard it is to lose a little green one (or any fid for that matter), as I lost mine too. It will take time, but you will heal eventually. It's a long healing process. Whatever I can do to help, I'm here for you. It's good to see you back posting.

When you are up to it, there is a post here the day we spoke. Many people wanted to share thoughts with you.

As far as what you have been through.
I've been in your shoes. It hurts. It hurts badly and deeply. You will have your days, and there will be many of them. This is normal. I wont say, that time heals, but I will say, that you learn to live with it. Go though the stages you need to. When you need to cry, let it out. Understand that being depressed and hurting is part of the grieving process. Dont let anyone tell you when that process should be done. Only you and you alone can tell. By doing this, and sharing when you need to, with people that understand, your heart can start to heal.

Remember that Grief is not something you get over, its something you walk through, with the help of your friends.

I wish there was more I could have done to help you both, but know, I offer a shoulder anytime you need it.

Patti-May your happy memories of Cosmo be a comfort to you. Glad to see you back. Don't worry-your next fid will find you! I hung onto some of Romeo's toys and cage for 5 yrs with the thought that eventually I would get another bird. Finally, I sold the cage at a garage sale and 3 months later, we had Hurricane Charley and I found myself with 4 rescue tiels and no permanent cage! I still had some of Romeo's toys and my new fids are still enjoying them, too.
