Default If you had a choice...

If you visited a breeder or bird store looking for, let's say, an African Grey (or insert any other species)... and there were two babies - one who was perfect and the other with a missing toe or a crooked beak or some other defect... and both were equally as sweet....

WHICH ONE WOULD YOU PICK?

I think it's more like which one would pick me. Before I got Pita I probably would have picked the healthy one, but after having him, and reading about the birds here that are challenged, I think I would take the needy baby.

I would also go with the one I felt the most bond with, let him/her pick me. But knowing me I would go with the defect because that way I know that he's going to a good home with someone who would be willing to deal with any difficulties the disability caused. I would get all motherly like and want to take care of the poor helpless one! They have a way of tugging at your heart more I think.

I agree with letting the bird pick you; so that is what I would do. And them I would feel so bad for the one left behind I would buy him too. Did I tell you guys that I tend to stay out of pet stores?
