I'd have a hard time with that one I have a soft spot for any creature that's "imperfect", but I also - like so many others have already said - like to let any potential new fid (feathered or furred) pick me.

I'd also have to wonder: would I really be able to provide a suitable home to a challenged fid ? Or would the little booger be better off with someone else ?

If money and space weren't an issue .... yeah, I'd probably take em both

Couldn't say in advance, I'd have to be there with them. I certainly wouldn't overlook the "imperfect" one, neither would I necessarily pick that one because of that imperfection. Theres a lot more to it than that.

It wouldn't matter to me. I would take the bird that connected with me when we sat down to sit and talk.

I usually would say let the bird pick you, however in this case I'd be more likely to choose the bird missing toes (or whatever may be) as I would be afraid that no one would take him or her.

Well it depends on which one bonded with me more, but I would probably take the baby that is missing the toe!

At the aviary and zoo where I volunteer we have a baby cinnamon Quaker that was born with a club foot and part of her wing missing. She is very sweet. We also have a DYH 'Zon that was born with a clef palate, club foot, and half his wing's missing and he is an amazing bird! Only a year old and can sing and talk PERFECTLY!! So sweet too, he'll give kisses, but doesn't like to be touched.

Depends upon the seriousness of the "defect", I suppose. No way I'd want to deal with a life-threatening issue right from the start. Also, the price difference or lack thereof might have to be taken into account. Barring either of those being problematic, I'd go with the one with whom I shared a bond. I wouldn't call missing toes, wing problems or a shortened beak all that problematic--birds adapt fairly well (Cowboy Chris' Minnie and Deb's Pico are great examples). Beaks way out of whack might be something else, though--60 years of beak trims every couple of weeks could get way old, way fast. Some issue that might mean a seriously shortened lifespan and extremely high AV bills on a regular basis, and I'd probably pass on the affected bird.

Me too -and not just worried no one would take him/her but also afraid the wrong the person would take him or her.
