Default I try and try and they still hate them

Well, it's been almost three weeks since I bought new stuff for their cages. After setting the bell, boing and swing near their cages, moved them to the outside of the cages for a week. Yesterday I finally put the bell inside Libby's cage and she either likes it or hates it. She is constantly beating it up. The swing is still hung on the outside but will be moved tonight. (at least she stopped growling at it) Boca's boing still hangs on the outside as well as his musical thingy. Now I decided to make that rope ladder play gym. It took me all day braiding cotton rope and putting it together. I put familiar things on it hoping they will be interested. It is sitting about three feet from the cages. I plan to hang it in the doorway leading out to the screened porch. Hope I didn't waste my time.

It takes time Susan. Yesterday Kady got ON his Boing for a few seconds. He has never touched it in the year+ that it's hung in his play area. He has never gotten onto anything that's not immobile. So just when you least expect it, they'll surprise you.

Mr Buddy LOVES to HATE his bell! He hangs upside down and beats it with his beak.He says "OHHHHHHH!" He often grabs the rope its on with his foot and shakes it a laughs. Afa screams in her bell to make an echo, and Occy likes to ring his and puke on it.

Libby had a bell since before she came to me.
It was rusty but she would throw a fit if I took it out of her cage.
I tried new ones many times to no avail...I think this one might work.

Oh Susan - sorry, I'm laughing at your story.
However, it is pretty funny from where I'm sitting.
Do your birds follow another's lead? If so, could you get another bird to play with this stuff to show them it's OK?

The 'growling' is funny & not so funny - poor thing is very confused. When she growls do you do anything? - like tap the offending object & laugh - that's what I do to calm the Budgies about a 'scary' object.

The Grey I will be bird sitting has an army of toys. It will be very interesting if she's OK with this 'vacation' to my home. *Sigh* - I wish she was used to a halter so I could take her outside.

I can remember when birds first came into our world, we read don't change things, don't move cages around, don't do this and that.
My wife changes the toys in our birds cages almost every week.
I mean geeeez, they do need to be washed.
It takes time Susan, they do adjust, but one thing we have learned, some of our birds do enjoy bells and such, others don't.
Hang in there girl, give it some more time.

Susan, for a while there I thought Ryan was the only bird that didn't like boings. I refused to give up as they look like fun to me! I moved them around constantly. He now has two that he loves and spends more time on them than his tree. Hang in there, eventually something will work!

Hang the best food on dangerous bird killing toys, may work.

Shrek rings his heavy bell in the morning to let me know he is awake and to come uncover him, lol. For a fid who didn't know what a bell was when he came to me, he now has 3-one he beats up outside his cage, his "ring for the servant" bell and a third that is at the bottom of a shredding toy. It took him a long time to figure out what to do with them; now he's real creative, lol
