She's fine! Thanks for thinking of us. I examined Occy and realize he has the same bump. It must be the stomach Im feeling. Id try it with Alex and Mr Buddy but I wouldnt have any fingers left to type with!

I still worry though. Should I be able to feel the stomach under the keel? Does anyone else examine their birds belly?

Leigh, I have no idea. Kady doesn't like it if I touch his keel area at all and Kita considers that a sexual behavior so I don't check her either.

But do you a light pressure exam just below the keel? Below the bump I feel its hollow. I figured if Occy had it it was normal.

I'd leave checking lumps to the Vets..... one can get carried away thinking the worst.

...it is kind of embarrassing to say - but many years ago I had a sore spot on my head, near the base of my skull. I started probing around & convinced myself the lumps could move - off to the doctors - he was mystified - well people have lumpy heads & he didn't think it was anything & is still the same today.

As was pointed out- be careful you aren't giving your bird mixed messages - you may have other problems to deal with!

I have just felt Honey, a young female sun conure. She was the only one still awake. The last bit of the keel has a bump, like our sternum. Below the keel bone there is a holllow. After the hollow I can feel the pelvic bones. Honey had a full crop at the time since she is a midnight muncher. Honey does not mind being inspected, she lies in a hand. Also she is a baby so no chance she can think wrong things.
