Well it's that time of year....FIREWORKS!! I had just settled Z in for the night around 9pm when our neighbors set off fireworks, loud, bright, fireworks. Bottle rockets, fircrackers and loud squeeling things that are wicked bright. She just stayed on her perch, opened her eyes, checked it out, and closed her eyes again! What????!!! I thought for sure she would freak out this fourth of July as living here on the lake gets crazy! I have her sleep cage in my room all ready if I see her getting really stressed. Then my sons girlfriend came in and went over to talk to her. She just checked her out too and that was it! I am really pleasantly surprised! I have to say when it was all over, I went over, got her out for a snuggle and an "it's ok" and put her back in. Yeah Z!

What a good girl. It is wonderful to see such a proud Mama.

As I am sitting here reading your post there are fireworks going off here, non-stop! I hate this time of year. They're illegal in New York but they are almost constant here for at least 6 weeks this time of year.

I am so glad for you that Z is taking them well. I know I get so stressed out worying the birds are going to be startled or stressed.

Good girl Zakiya! I don't even want to think how my bird will react to fireworks!
