#1 | | | "I Love You" So yesterday I'm taking the fid's bowls out of their cages. I had just gotten Echo's out and had turned around I was standing their looking at Lucy when in the blink of and eye, she managed to take hold of my lower lip. The first was a hard strike. The second one took her longer to let go. This was out of no where too! She's never bahaved this way before, but for some reason, her personality lately has just been out of the norm!
So my mom comes to see what was wrong and what do you know, my entire lower lip is bleeding! Not just a little bit, but literally gushing blood. She runs and gets my and ice pack for my lip and a paper towel. OMG, it hurt so bad! Once the bleeding was under control, my lip looks like I just got a huge implant! I felt terrible leaving the bird room crying, but I really couldn't help it!
After my mom left for work a few minutes later, I go ack into he bird room. Echo is sitting on her door, looking at me. Out of no where, she says "Okay?" I was in such a state of shock that it didn't quite register for me at first. I look at her and then the sweetest thing of all happened: "I love you"! Awwww! I just started crying again! Echo climbs onto my sholder, snuggles into my hair and makes a kissy sound. This is just another reminder to keep my remembering just how intellegent they are. Not just with assiciating words and phrases to stimuli, but understanding feeling. Just thought I would share!
BTW- there won't be any pics of my anytime soon! |

#5 | | | Re: "I Love You" You poor thing - of course you'd cry - the shock must have been terrible. It is pretty traumatic. Could it have been a 'look at me' bite - or was it just a crazy hormonal thing?
Out of nowhere is pretty common I guess. The sweet Laker Budgie has bitten me on the lip - my fault in offering him kisses, not so out of nowhere there. Non parrot people must be very surprised to hear about this kind of thing. If a dog attacked its owner very bad things would follow.
Guess Echo is the prize bird at the moment. What a doll. |

Thanks for the support guys! I don't know what has gotten into her lately. I can't let her out of her cage anymore; she litterally jumps off and tries to go after you. She won't let anyone (including me) near her cage or her and if I try to use a perch, she simply finds a way to reach your hands. I don't know if this is a sudden hormone rush, but it seems so odd for it to happen so suddenly...
Echo, a suck up? Naaaaaah! She is my golden child- always quiet except for her chatter, loving everyone, wanting scritches... *Sigh* what would I do without my fildren? |
