We noticed yesterday that Danny has been acting a little strange with his foot. For the most part he is acting normal, he can perch like normal and is eating, drinking, and playing. But sometimes when he climbs or walks he only use one foot and his beak to get around. The other foot he picks up and it trembles a bit. Has anyone had this happen? His foot looks okay, no swelling or cuts or anything. But he seems to have a hard time opening it up, he is keeping it balled up when he walks. And he drags his foot over the top of his perch to open it up. The only thing I can think of are his nails are really long and that could be bothering him. We trimmed them a little bit yesterday, but I want the vet to do it really good tomorrow.

He has a vet appointment tomorrow at 3pm to get it checked out.

I hope Danny's okay and it's nothing serious. Will be waiting to see what the vet says tomorrow.

Thanks. It is just so strange because sometimes he acts like that and sometimes he walks and climbs like normal. And his feet aren't that great to begin with because he spent so much time without perches. We are worried about him.

Have your vet check out the muscles and joints further up on the legs and the spine, it could be that something is out of place or he landed wrong and sprained something.

This happened with Humphrey. She started limping one day and I was worried. The vet x-rayed her and also did some blood tests if I remember correctly - he thought it could be a symptom of a problem with her kidneys! It turned out that her kidneys are fine and she probably just sprained it. In a couple of days she was fine. I even got a copy of her x-ray, which is really interesting to see how my bird is made.
Poor Humphrey though - she hated the ordeal, and she even wrote a post about it on her blog:

I hope Danny is feeling better soon. They're so good at hiding things, but I'm sure the Vet will able to help him feel better. Please let us know.
