#3 | | | Re: How Many Toys? I don't rotate toys on any kind of regular basis, I do take out for washing. I remove toys when they have lost interest and then it is new when it comes back. Mine also have 5-7 toys at any given time. Today in the cage is 2 hanging wood block type toys, 3 balls, a rawhide bone, a paper cup, a toilet roll inside and a rope offcut. On top of the cage which they have access to when not in the aviary, plastic baby keys - wont be rotated only 2 keys left, a raw hide ring,a barrel, 2 bells and a kabob. In the aviary tied to the atom is
hanging block toys, balls with treats, chewing rope, and barrels. They also have mullberry branches to destroy. Except for the barrel and bells, most of what they have gets destroyed before they loose interest. They also have toys they can only play with when we are playing with them due safety. |

#9 | | | Re: How Many Toys? My guys usually have 4-6 toys in their cages at a time, and that doesn't include swings. (Winston only has two at the moment, but I will be working on getting him used to new toys very soon). I rotate and bring in 1-2 new/refurbished toys every week. Although Jerry is pickier about his toys. He really loves a few select toys and plays with them nonstop, so I tend to leave those in as long as his interest in them is still high. Sometimes he'll barely touch a new toy, it's hit and miss with him. But he always has at least 2 favorites at all times. Lulu destroys almost everything so she's the one I like to keep occupied at all times with new chewable toys. Jerry's not a destroyer, he just plays and plays and rings bells and swings off of things - although he has went to town on a kabob recently. Lulu half-chewed the kabob and lost interest so I stuck it in Jerry's cage to see if he liked it, and man it's been about 3 weeks now and the kabob is down to the nitty gritty. Every time I change his papers there's a big pile of shavings!
I don't rotate perches, just the toys. Like everyone else said, once I find an arrangement where they can easily get around and aren't pooping on anything, I don't change it.
