Default Grass between the toes

I am just curious how many parronts let their fids walk in the grass and do they like it. I took Nelly with me to my mom's today and she decided being on my shoulder wasn't good enough and flew down onto the lawn. The cutest thing to see was her waddling across the lawn carefully putting each foot down and then deciding she liked it so much she decided to rub her head on a particularly tall blade of grass. I so wish I had my camera with me because at one point to she put up her crest and let out an ear piercing scream which shook the birds out of the trees and then proceeded to continue her stroll around the yard. Not to worry of course there were no chemicals on the lawn. When she had enough she just stood there with her foot up which is my signal to pick her up. I can't let her do this at my house because I live in an apt. on the main drag so there is always the worry of passing cars. Her little walk tired her out and she is napping as I write this.

Peanut like it but I can't allow it because we have dogs that would eat him.

Jean loves to walk around in the grass, I'll often lay under the trees at my moms house and let him wander around I don't worry too badly about preditors coming from the sky because the trees make it difficult for a direct dive. That and Jean always turns his head up every 30 seconds or so and scans the sky just in case, he really is still a bit wild even though he's never seen a rain forest. But yea, he waddles around too and trims the grass for me, he knows enough too that when I put him down in the grass it's time to poop XD. One instance however, last time I was out there while he was trolling the grass about 3 feet from my side, still in emergency grabbing distance I was laying on my back reading a book under the lower part of the trees...Jean was eating, then stopped. I noticed because he stopped moving and I glanced towards him, he had his head cocked sideways to look up, then suddenly bolted onto my chest and hid under my book which surprised me until I looked up past the edge of my book...and saw the neighbor hood hawk starting to circle. Needless to say I don't read books anymore when I'm out there relaxing with him, but he's a smart boy he knows where he's safe. There also was an article not too long ago about a woman nearly losing her gray to a hawk that dove through a soft ball sized hole on their screened porch and took off with her baby. He's got a screwed up neck now, thankfully he survived, but just be sure you're watching the sky while you're out you never know when a happy stroll will turn into a bloody heart ache.

Gracie hasn't ever walked in grass. I live in an apartment too. So who knows what kind of chemicals they have on the grass here. I should let her walk around outside next time we go to grandma's house.

I let Winkie on the grass when the cat isn't around. At first he didn't like grass at all, then as I had him out there more, he got to like it. 1 thing though, He gets mad because the grass is touching him & starts attacking/chewing on it. He looks for hawks too.

ah a parrolet would be like a chicken nugget, or a popcorn chicken ball to a hawk, not even a bite. that's incredibly cute though that he checks!

Tinna, I kinda think the reason he checks very carefully now is because a week after I got him last December a hawk dive-bombed our bird feeders. The feeders are about 6 ft from our kitchen window & Winkie's cage sits up there in front of it. Poor guy was frozen to the side of his cage for over 5 minutes.

I didn't mean it in a mean way

I was just giggling over such a tiny bird being thought of as a meal to a way bigger bird I didn't mean to offend. I know they don't have logic or reason but if they did I'm sure the hawk would have picked a bigger target.
