Default Is this a good spot for Z's cage?

Hi there, This is where I was thinking of putting Zakiyas cage. My only concern is the lack of a wall for sense of security for her. Our house is pretty much open concept, and this is where she will get the best view point of everything going on, and everyone coming and going. It's our family room. I'm standing in the kitchen taking picture. I was going to paint a mural on the wall up to cathedral in the right of chair, but I love the fresh, open colors. Maybe when the walls are covered with squash, water, fruits & veggies, I'll paint it all then! LOL. Thanks all!

Ro's cage is in front of a sliding glass door, there is a wall to the left side of it so basically she has one side blocked (it is not totally up against the wall maybe about 4-5 ft away) Anyhow, she wouldn't have it any other way, she loves looking out the window and watching things go on. My only concern would be sun exposure .... Ro's window has east exposure and there is an awning out side so I can control how much direct sunlight she gets ...there are also vertical blinds on the window that I can close either half way for partiall exposure during the day and all the way each night.

As long as you can control the light frun the sun as too much or too little can upset molting. Both of you...Lori & Danielle have beautiful rooms for your fids.
Mine is being re-built as I am typing this. I figure another two months.

Oh I am so jealous of your big windows! Danny is in front of a window and seems to really like it. He loves sitting in the sunlight and watching what's going on in the backyard. I would think she would be fine but you will be able to tell after a few weeks whether she likes it or not.

I would also not assume your bird(s) are getting adequate light of the beneficial kind from/thru the window - I would suggest you still invest in good quality Full Spectrum Lighting.

Pitas cage is in the living room in front of the windows, and he loves to sit and look out. He has the wall on one side...this pic was taken from my kitchen so he can see everything that goes on. Don't ask me what's on TV I have no idea...LOL

here's another view

his play stand is also in front of a window.

I agree Joel, I don't count on Ro getting enough light thru the window - but being as we are fortunate enough to live in South Florida she gets at the very least an hour of outside light a day - weekends are much more.

Thanks for the reminder!

For clarification, my original concerns about controlling the sunlight were mentioned due to concerns regarding getting too much hot sun and no shade being in front of a window - especially an issue in South Florida.

Ollie's cage isn't in front of a window, but she has 2 gyms hanging directly in front of one, and she can also see out from her PVC palace. My main reasoning is that the apartment complex I live in is quite old. The insulation already isn't that great, but next to the windows it's drafty and quite a bit colder during the winter. I want to be sure she's nice and cozy, especially at night. She's out of her cage and able to look out the window for most of the day anyway, and for the most part she really does enjoy watching what's going on out there.

As far as that goes, Pita gets outside almost everyday depending on the weather, and he seems fine with the window light.
