Well , let me start off by saying I appreciate everyone's support!!! The little guy is able to leave the hospital today! I didn't get to speak to the vet so my guess is that he's eating enough on his own to leave and must have gained more weight.

AND mixed emotions kicking in again...I had e-mailed anyone in my town who's e-mail address I knew to get the word out and today I got an e-mail from a friend of a friend of a friend who's friend (follow me???) who lost a parakeet last week. She is going to find out details and get back to me. I let her know "it's" been in the hospital since Wednesday so it'll be no surprise when he comes with a price tag.

I gave no details to anyone other than it is a parakeet, except to you guys, on the little guy because I didn't want anyone just saying it is theirs so they could get a "free bird".

It will be interesting to hear what happens - good luck. Nice to hear the progress is good.

Something tells me that even the rightful owners _may_ not be hot to pay up on a huge vet bill for a $15 bird. Sadly, a lot of people aren't willing to go that route for something they got for cheap or free, so it may be that you end up with a budgie of your own, anyway :-).

maybe they should only sell them with a vet exam coupon... personally, i automatically add the costs for the vet exam to the intial expenses...

Well, let's not judge too quickly. They may pay the vet bills or may not be able to pay the vet bills and feed the kids (poor planning but it happens). Just glad the little guy found a good foster mom!
