Default Food Brand

I just wanted to know what brand and type of bird food everyone uses for their fids. What size quantities do you buy it in?

Although more expensive in the long run I prefer to buy smaller sizes of seed and pellet. My budgies are strictly hooked on Higgins seeds and now them and the tiel eat Zupreem fruit blend pellets mixed with the seed (thanks to LIZ). They also have a place on my grocery list for fruits and veggies!

Ollie always has Zupreem fruit blend cockatiel size pellets in her cage, but she doesn't eat very much of them. She gets Lafeber's avicakes, a pasta/veggie/bean mix daily, and some of whatever I'm having! She eats more of my food than her own!

Dakota gets a seed mix mixed with the same pellets Ollie eats (although he won't touch them), and pasta mix.

My IRN's love Roudybush pellets along with their veggies, pasta etc. My tiels are eating Vetafarm pellets (the one with the tiel on the front). They don't eat much veggies but I still offer it to them everyday, they love baby broccoli though
We can't seem to get Zupreem over here for some reason.

I have two GW's here. I usually mix up about 80 - 90 lbs. at a time. I mix 20# Higgins Celestial Mix, 20# Higgins Veracruz Mix, 10# Higgins Boca Nuts, 10# Dried Fruit & Veggie Mix, 10# Zupreem Fruit Pellets and 10# Goldenfeast GoldenO'bles or 10# Harrison's Pellets. I'll usually also throw in a few pounds of Pine Nuts, Whole Star Anise, Cinnamon Sticks, Dried Hot Peppers, Cashews, Shelled Macadamia Nuts, Unsalted Pretzel Nuggets and Pistachios in the mix.

This all goes in their dry food bowl along with a one or two blue corn tortilla chips, a couple Nutriberries, and a few little parrot biscuits. I use the large two quart stainless steel dishes, so they get quite the foraging experience browsing through everything.

They get a smaller separate dish for all their nuts Walnuts, Almonds, Hazel Nuts, Brazil Nuts and peanuts.

In another dish they get their fruit, veggies, cooked meals and birdie bread, which I change a few times a day.

My birds are on a custom seed blend made special for me and my breeder friends by Silver Song West. I also mix in Zupreem pellet and fruits and veggies daily.

Stick to Zupreem, stay away from Kaytee. Only because they use Ethoxyquin in their food. Please check your labels and make sure there is no Ethoxyquin. It's a preservative.

right now my birds get a blended mix from http://www.mybirdstore.com/ which they just love!!! Also I have started using Volkmans rainbow 15 minute soak and serve. They liked the Zupreem avian maintenance for awhile but preferred Roudybush as far as pellets go. They always have thier fresh veggie mash as well.

Mine get the Ultimate Blend from Bird Paradise www.mybirdstore.com and lots of fresh and/or frozen fruits and vegetables, along with a cooked food called Asian Medley (also from Bird Paradise). I also give them Higgins Boca Nuts and an occasional couple of Nutriberries (I don't like the ethoxyquin in Nutriberries). They also absolutely love Birdiebread (can be ordered from Ginich, one of our members).
