Default A FIRST for dinner tonight!

Late last night I finished cooking my grains and beans/lentils. (I do a 2:1 ratio for grains and beans/lentils). So today I finely chopped (in the food processor) fresh raw veggies and a little fruit to go with them. On the menu was;

Broccoli
Zucchini
Yellow Summer Squash
Green Pepper
Carrots
Dandelion Greens
Kale
Cucumber
Mango
Canteloupe
Apple
Clove of fresh Garlic
RPO

I did a 60% (Veg-Fruit) / 40% (Grains-Beans) mixture and Kady and Kita loved it.

For dessert they got fresh blueberries. I've been serving blueberries for a few days with no success. Kita did touch one last night thinking it was a grape. When she realized the error she immediately dropped it. Tonight we had success with Kady and he ate a whole blueberry!!!

I am going to retry giving my guys new things. I shouldn't let them get to me.

It's hard to watch food be ignored - especially blueberries. I stand there pretending or actually eating them but so far no takers.

It is hard not to put onion in stuff - I had made a really tasty lentil & veggie dish the other day & I really wanted to give them some. I guess I'll have to put some aside without the onion.

I hear that! All I've been picturing is that little price tag sticker that's on the package when I throw them in the garbage. $3.49 a pint!!!

I usually cut all my veggies by hand. How big are the pieces when they come out of the food processor? Pictures please :-)

Actually, blueberries are quite inexpensive this time of the year (I bought six pints for only $7 last week) and they freeze wonderfully.

And yes, it is hard to throw away food (I put it out for the wild birds so nothing really goes to waste) but it's the only way to familiarize them enough with it so they would eventually try it.

If anyone wants to freeze blueberries just try this. Rinse and dry at room temp. Lay parchment or wax paper on a cookie sheet. spread berries ina single layer and freeze for 3 hours. Put them back in the same container or a freezer bag and store frozen. If you use the container, wrap that as well to save from freezer burn.
