Default The Fids' Play Area

Thought I would post some pics of their play room, aka my living room It might not look like much, but for 3 little ones it keeps them quite busy. I like for them to have a play area away from their cages and this works out so well. They know that these play gyms are "their" areas and they happily fly to and from each one. And even being fully flighted, they don't go wandering off and getting into any trouble.

In the past week I've added a 2nd boing along their huge window - and I think these hanging gyms/boings are helping Winston's feet and balance, they are all different diameters and the newest one (the one on the right) is smaller and swings much more when they fly to and land on it:

And we set their large tabletop gym on the coffee table:

Here's a pic of the gym with the boings and hanging gym in the background (complete with hubby stationed in his favorite chair):

OMG Sarah, I love it! What do you mean it may not look like much. That's one hell of a big bird room considering the size of the bird. You've got me beat by leaps and bounds. I love it!!!

I'm considering letting at least one of my birds go free flighted and making plans for others in the future. Do you have any problems with the big windows in front of their boings?

I love your pictures!!! I like the 3rd picture where all the fids look so content in their own space. (Also, nice view)

Looks Great Sarah, We have sorta the same setup for Jack and Seymour. They hang around there play area as long as they don't hear Amber or I in other parts of the house. Other wise they come looking for us They actually sleep on one of there globes every night, I know not the safest thing but its been this way since day one and I don't have the heart or feel the need to change this habit now.

If you can, Do It!!! Flighted birds are not for everyone and depends on each persons individual situation. As for the big windows, we haven't had any problems with our two birds. (Except when they see me outside doing yard work the politely demand to come outside and help by yelling at me) I have heard of people placing stickers up in large widows while there bird is learning to fly. Jack our Scarlet actually chipped his beak and got a black eye while learning to fly. He would get so excited and just keep going right into the wall.

Looks real good. I am trying the fully flighted thing with my Pinky, but it does not stop her from searching out trouble. She badly wants to take a wooden helicopter model back to her semi flighted comrades on the gym.
