Feeder Cups

OK so we have the constant problem with Seymour throwing his dish's everywhere. We used to use the Lixit Feeder Crocks, but at last count we have 26, and all have no bases to attach to the cage cause he has destroyed them. I have thought about the heavy ceramic ones but I can never find any with a solid holder. Anything Plastic is pretty much out of the question he is a heavy chewer. Any Idea's???

If you have ring dishes.... wrap some vetwrap around the ring then slip the dish in.... it is extremely difficult for them to get out... but it will be difficult for you to get out too!

Contact the LIxit dealer in your area and see if yo can buy just bases from them. I had the same problem as you so I just started buying bags of bases. There is also an SS that mounts to the cage,but I don't know who makes it.I have one in the cupboard that came with Chica I'll see if it has any markings on it.

My sister-in-law had a similar problem with her CAG Lucy. So she too thought that the cock bowls were the way to go, but Lucy threw those and broke who knows how many, we've all lost count. I use SS bowls and now so does my sister-in-law, and if Lucy throws one at least it doesn't break, LOL! Good luck with your search, and let us know what happens.

Does he chew through plastic? I use ziploc disposable "tupperware" containers as baths and for extra treat/food bowls for the bottom of the cage, then just throw them away after a couple of rounds in the dishwasher.

Maybe these birdie need swivel feeders, although I have no idea how it attaches to a cage. The aviaries have these type. Have a look at theses pics to see if a plan can be made.

A metal bar can be welded across the tops to prevent the dish being taken out. The dish swings into the aviary underneath the bar. These in the pics have a double ring.

I just put the water bottles back in the Grey's cages. I use both, SS and water bottles that fit on the outside of the cage.
