Maybe he's just turning prematurely grey....I'm sure if it was a concern your vet would have said something.

Yep looks like the little fellow is going "stale" poor thing, and at such a young age too.
I can fix that for you though;

I too wouldn't worry about that too much I think.

I remember a thread awhile back about african greys who suddenly started sprouting red feathers on their bodies amongst the grey, not related to being a "red factor." I believe abnormal colored feathers are attributed to a nutritional deficiency. This could be completely unrelated, but maybe its something to look into? Does anybody else remember this thread? I think the topic came out of a bird magazine.

This is what my AV thinks also. Kady has funky colored feathers in the two areas that he had surgery on. Through two molts now, it's the same feathers that come in each time that look like they have bleached out colors in them.

It could be a nutritional deficiency or also what are you feeding him,,,I know this sounds strange but sometimes feathers can be discolored by the food they consume.Also did he by any chance pluck those 2 feathers, sam also would grow in his feathers a different colors if he picked them. Did you see Sampson the Ekkie?

I haven't seen much about Australian King Parrots. Have you researched to see if it could be something specific to them? Maybe normal color variation for them? Is this his first adult molt?

I know Ekkies are known to get discolored feathers related to diet. Also Grey's with red feathers (not red factor) as already mentioned.
