She has been flying every now and then but I have been giving it a lot of thought, and I am afraid that when I'm at college (until I can get my own place and have her with me) she won't have someone to let her fly around safely. I don't have anyone I would really really trust keeping an eye on her, and looking out for dangers like windows, mirrors, fans, etc. So I would like to clip her now before she gets really good at it and really used to it, instead of before I leave when she is a champ at it, and then all of a sudden can't do it anymore (I am sure this kills their confidence, and it must sadden them to be able to fly anytime she wants and just have fun and then just be completely grounded except for short glides). Once she can live with me again (hopefully very soon), I will let her feathers grow back out and we will work from there. It really sucks but I don't want her to be hurt (physically or emotionally). What would you guys do?

Shane - IMO you are being very responsible under the circumstances you are in right now. I'm curious though, is the Jan person you are referring to from Md. also - last name Ross? If so, she's very knowledgeable when it comes to grooming birds - she's also adopted a too from me. If it's her, say hi for me!
