Default Favorite parrot/bird quotes

Besides the ones in my sig, my favorites are below. Do you have any?

"You'll get mixed up, of course, as you certainly know, you'll get mixed up with some very strange birds as you go." - Oh the Places You'll Go, Dr. Seuss

"The smile of a parrot, a little drop of claret." - From "Reasons to be Cheerful" by Ian Dury (I especially love it because not only do I love parrots, but red wine is my drink. So they are both definitely reasons to be cheerful"

"Hope is a thing with feathers" - Emily Dickinson

"I hope you love birds too. It is economical. It saves going to heaven."
Emily Dickinson

"I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while
I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more
distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn."
Henry David Thoreau

"The bird of paradise alights only on the hand that does not grasp."John Berry (I learned this with Humphrey when she was first rescued)

"The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese." - Steven Wright

I have a wall hanging that says "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul" -Emily Dickinson. Just a little different than yours Michele so I thought I'd share it!

It is not only fine feathers that make fine birds.
Aesop

A wise old owl sat on an oak; The more he saw the less he spoke; The less he spoke the more he heard; Why aren't we like that wise old bird?
Edward Hersey Richards

She was not quite what you would call refined. She was not quite what you would call unrefined. She was the kind of person that keeps a parrot.
Mark Twain

Those are great! Not parrot specific, but my favorite is in my signature.

I love that one! I wrote it out and made it look really pretty then hung it in my locker. First week of HS, I need hope, lol! So far, so good!

Mine are:

It is not only fine feathers that make fine birds.
Aesop

A bird does not sing because it has an answer. It sings because
it has a song.
Chinese Proverb

I hope you love birds too. It is economical. It saves going to
heaven.
Emily Dickinson

***(This has birds AND Horses! And it's actually a very smart quote for me)***
Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see bird that had
the blues? One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is
because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses.
Dale Carnegie

She was not quite what you would call refined. She was not quite
what you would call unrefined. She was the kind of person that
keeps a parrot. Mark Twain

please, keep them coming..... i'm still looking for a quote to put on the front cover of my thesis - since it's engineering, it has to be fitting.... so i'll soak all your favorites up

i like the one mike has in his siggy:
For thirty years he talked in feathered pride
For thirty years he talked before he died.
You say that parrots do not really know
The meaning of the words they speak? Just so,
I grant you that you may be right - but then,
Do men? Theodore Stephanides
