Squash flowers - how funny - what a great idea. wish I'd know earlier.

I was just at the farm & my brother has planted some zucchini type squash & there are hundreds of flowers. That and all the tomatoes they have - I said to my Dad you had better call the neighbours as there is no way you guys can eat all this! My brother buys specials - boxes of baby plants I think it was this year.

And if he were to just pick the male flowers, it will not take away the amount of squash you get.

Male flowers! ... I have to go back & look.

... at the farm they could take some female flowers & the 'real men don't eat zucchini' type that my Dad is - would be content.

Just look at the center of the flowers you will see the difference. The females are bulbous and and the center of the males have a different shape all together, hers a link.
