Default Do your birds talk to each other?

I'm assuming this is different for birds of the same species, but when Ollie (CAG) and Dakota (tiel) are in the same house, they completely ignore each other! Both of them will be making all sorts of their normal noises, but neither of them are affected in the least by the other bird. They can even be in the same room, and they act like the other bird doesn't exist. Do your birds of different species communicate?

Quito and Tausi contact call, and appear to jabber back and forth at each other a lot in birdie talk. Tausi says "hello Quito" quite a bit, but it'd be a leap of faith to assume that he's really directing it at her.

Belle and Hawkeye talk to each other all the time. They also scold the Tiels for screaming.

Yeeeesssssss they do, I have to believe this in my heart.
I really don't know what is more fasinating how they communicate with us, or how we communicate with them.
I am finding this subject very interesting, I honestly believe most people think animals don't talk to each other, this fuels the notion that animals are stupid and should be treated as such, a LESSER one might say.
This also fuels mankinds belief that he/she is superior.
So I choose to believe Yes, they do have there own form of communicating just as we humans do, we humans also thrive on Body Language, I also believe body language is used in the animal kingdom, animals tend to hide there illnesses through body language, many times when they can no longer hide the illness what shines telling us they are ill...body language...
The story of the tower of Bable, why we humans speak different languages, I also believe there is such a language barrier between different species.
What a wonderful world the animal kingdom is, full of Mystery.

I say they do, here's an article about their naming ea other so most certainly they would communicate. I often tell Bart to have a chat w/her sister Lucy about how good they have it living w/us and that Lucy has to quit picking at her skin. Sometimes I think she understands me and does as I have requested.

Other times I think I'm a bit "empty" in the brain dept!

I have no doubt that they would communicate...maybe Ollie and Dakota just don't like each other! Since Ollie and I go visit in Dakota's territory, maybe he feels threatened and thus ignores her. Perhaps Ollie just has no interest in him because she feels she is a human, lol!

I don't think mine communicate much across species, though they do imitate one another and make contact calls. Except for Magellan, I have several birds in each cage of the same species. When I have split a group into two cages they do seem to chatter back and forth. Of course, they make such a racket that it is hard to tell who is talking to whom.

I think my guys do. At the very least they contact call to each other if they are in separate rooms. When one gets chatting up a storm, the other usually joins in. Jerry imitates every sound Lulu makes and throws it in amongst his budgie, human, and cat talk. Jerry even talks to the cats. He calls two cats by name, and he meows like one of them. Lately if Lulu starts screaming he sometimes lets out screeches, like he's annoyed - he also does his if one cat jumps up on the computer desk. We do tell him to yell at the kitty if she's misbehaving

I do believe mine talk and understand each other across species. Peewee the budgie can mimic a sun screech. If I have left the pet suns in the cage too long the pet budgies do go investigate and maybe tease the suns, whatever is said it makes the sun bash against the door. The budgies dont visit suns if the suns are out, so how do they know? They are in separate rooms. Quite a long walk for the budgies.

The ringnecks who can see me first anounce the arrival of food to the breeding suns in the walk in aviary. Maybe a universal "gubs up" call. It gets the suns all excited and waiting at the doors. The breeding suns do have conversations and meetings across the walkway. The breeding budgies only go to the door when they see the food not in response to the ringnecks. The ringnecks are outside the aviary. The suns and budgies are in the walk in aviary although all separated by the walkway.
