Water just couldn't cut through 15 years of no bathing for my two. Also the day I took Kady from his previous residence he went immediately to the Vets for surgery. So he was a mess!

I used Johnson's Baby shampoo on both my bird's when I first got them. I diluted a few tsps. in a spray bottle filled with water and soaked the bird and then gave them a good rinsing shower with a hand held shower head. Now I only use Johnson's for a stubborn spot of Red Palm Oil. Plain water seems to do fine for everything else and I do use the AVIx products.

I use plain water. I do spray my birds with a mixture of Buddy Rinse from Cloudstar and water a few times a week during the winter. I discovered this when my Ru GW and Casey Hahns had a plucking problem a few years ago.

Ru was almost "bald" and now his feathers look great! (We had a complete workup including feather cytology and culture before starting my "natural" treatment.)

I have a friend that swears by that cockatoo shampoo, but I don't use it. Charlie & Syd were just cruddy when I picked them u-p. I've been misting them everyday and slowly but surely they are cleaning up. The tips of their feathers still have a but of junk on them but a couple more days it will be gone.

I never knew there was such a thing as bird shampoo! So no I don't use it! Plain water works just fine!

just water here too.... i guess as long as there's nothing on them, that doesn't come off with just water, i won't be using any shampoo.... but you never know what they're capable of getting themselves into

At the aviary I volunteer at, we sell African Grey shampoo, 'Too shampoo, and parrot shampoo all by the same company. I turned the bottle over one day and read the ingredients...they were all alike! I do not recall the company's name, however.
