Default Do you detox your parrots?

I detox my birds twice a year using Naturade Aloe Vera Detoxifying Formula. Does anyone else do this? Any feedback on whether or not it is beneficial and/or harmful? I sometimes see a slight change in the color of their droppings after about 3 days which I am told is caused by the toxins coming out of their body.

I mix up a large jug of water and use that as their drinking water for 7 days, keeping the jug in the fridge, of course.

I do this also about 2-3 times/yr. I also do the dog, cats and me! I use Aloe Life Herbal Aloe Detox that I get at the Health food store. It is 95% aloe juice. I also grow my own aloe plants so I often mix aloe gel in the bottle of water I spray the fids with on the porch. However, I don't spray Aloe mist when I am putting Aloe Detox in their water.

I find it makes a difference in the sheen and texture of their feathers. It is especially helpful when they are molting because aloe is a softener and also quite soothing to the skin, especially misting them with water mixed 100% Aloe from the plant.

Default Carolyn Swicegood/Land of Vos/Aloe Detox

Kathie, Naturade sold their detox formula to Lily of the Desert. So I buy the Aloe detox from Lily of the Desert now. I give aloe detox any time I see poops looking a bit "FUNKY!" I usually give it a week at a time....and only give it in one of their two water changes per day.

Dr. Speers doesn't think it will cure anything, but said "It won't hurt them"....

However, my severe w/kidney issues was pooping (sorry for the graphic) green yogurt it is now formed and looking "almost" normal.

My last purchase was three quart sized bottles. I'll never run out if I can help it. I think it is truly an awesome product.

More can be read on Carolyn Swicegood's Land of Vos web site. Shes the one that originally came to the bird community w/this product. She feels it actually saved the life of one of her birds.

******The best thing to do for any product you give yourself or your birds is to be well informed. Find an ingredient listing and do research on the benefits and risks of each individual ingrediet. Better to know all the possibilities before trying something like this.

We use Aloe-Detox twice a year for its detoxification properties. We also use it when we notice our birds poop not being up to par. Aloe is a great wound healer and should be in every bird keeper’s first aid kit! We keep aloe plants, aloe gels, and Aloe-Detox in our home all the time. It is an outstanding product for humans and our avian flock.

There are many articles on the internet about aloe!!

I put aloe gel in their water regularly, like once a month. What is the difference between that and the aloe detox? Isn't the aloe detox supposed to do the same thing as Apple Cider Vinegar?

Aloe detox has ingredients in it that cleanse the liver and kidneys. Since my severe has kidney issues---I won't be without it. It is made by Lily of the dessert and is not the same as the plain aloe and doesn't work on the same issues as apple cider vinegar.

I use it here on an as needed basis.I used it regularly with Nicky my Q who had FLD.I believe that is part of what kept him alive almost 5 yrs longer then the Vet expected.
