Mom said he hasn't set his crest down since he got home. I'm beginning to wonder if it's stuck permently up. Can that happen?

I agree, I like the name Data and it might fit either a girl or boy. PICS, definately!

Data is beautiful. Do you call him a lutino, or a pied (what with those 2 or 3 grey feathers)?

And no, I don't think they can get their crests stuck in the "up" position :-).

He's a Heavy heavy pied bird was what Paul said. I did some research some pied are nearly entirely one solid color and some are just halfies. The fact he had those grey feathers was the difference between paying 107$ for him to paying 150$ =) Gotta love natures details. Why is his crest up though? Does it mean he's curious or interested?

He is curious and interested, he needs to know what is going on around him.

You guys think in 9 months when he hits sexual maturity if I scan/photograph his butt you guys might be able to identify his gender?

BTW thank you Angie thats what I thought it was but my book didn't come with a section on cockitiel expressionism with the face.

I agree with Angie that he's still probably curious and excited with the happenings in his new surroundings. He's still probably on high alert too.

I'm not sure if there's a way to visually tell which sex the pieds are - but you'll probably be able to know by the vocalizations too. Males generally whistle much more than females, and females have kind of odd calls and screeches.
