So this morning we went over the the lady's home (her name is Kathy) who we here going to give Lucy to. We went over to meet a man who owns the last eclectus she bred (this bird is 15). Not only is she absolutly stunning, but she is absolutly a sweetheart too! We took Lucy over to meet them as well.

I have heard so much about how females don'ge get along. How all they do is fight and try to kill eat other. I'm sure that that has a lot of truth to it, but if you could have seen these two today.

Lucy was so interested in this other bird. The other bird was too. She crawled onto this man's arm and they sat and looked at eat other for the longest time. Then they started 'kissing' eat other and actually began FEEDING one another. They did this for about 2 and a half hours straight (I was out looking at an aviary that we were taking pics of; we are going to build one next week). This man said he would just love to have her and he obviously takes excellent care of his girl. We decided to go for a trial preiod. After all, they were both in a neutral territory. I think she would be so happy, but I am okay with whatever happens now...

Just thought I would share my goofy story!!!

Thanks guys! Lucy got along great with this other bird (her name is Sandie). HOWEVER, Sandie didn't exactly 'approve' of the situation. She has done nothing to Lucy, but she chewed her owner a new one! Keep in mind this bird only bites her owner like, 4 times a year. She went after him and has literally been 'attacking' him while Lucy has been on visit. I guess she doesn't like the idea of a sibling...

So, I think Lucy will be going back to Ga with us. If and when the right home comes along, we know it will work out. In the mean time, I've gotten ahold of a behaviorist/vet tech and am in the process of contacting Carolyn Swicegood and Laurella Desborough. We also found a birdie detox on LOV and we think that the aviary will also be good for her too.

But bottom line, Lucy is who Lucy is. I can't change her. Yes, I can work with her to help with her handlability and her tameness; I can research and give her the best diet available and I can give her the best bird life she can live. But in the end, I can't change her personality and who she is, and I just have to embrace that.
