My four year old neighbor, Nate, came by today with strawberries for Ruby. He just loves her and will stop by and say that he could hear her calling for him! ha! He went home with oreos and feathers as always! He enjoyed watching Ruby eat the berries.

Awwww, how cute. Maybe Ruby is telling him to "Step up!"

Isn't it neat how childern and animals bond so well. When I was young my neighbour had a squirrel Monkey (in the day when we could own pet monkeys) and I'd go over every time I had the chance. I probably drove the lady nuts..lol We would share a banana together the monkey and I.

That's adorable Jessalyn!! Fids and kids do seem to get along quite well for some reason. I have a 4 year old niece who just LOVES Maple and Harley. Despite the fact that her Dad is terrified of them. She always wants to hold Harley and get a kiss from him, and give them both nuts. She is even getting brave enough to hold Maple....NOBODY usually wants to do that...LOL. They love her too, it's great!

Fids are funny about kids too really. I find my two are MUCH more gentle with kids then adults. Maple will stand on my 7 year old step-sons arm all day long quietly and peaceful.....but put her on an adult and she'll scream and snap at them lol. It's like they know to be gentle with kids.

Kids + Fids = awesome combo.

Good for Nate! Maybe Ruby IS calling him....er maybe it's the Oreo's....either way...great development of socialization skills for everyone involved! LOL

I think the bigger birds know to be gentle with kids. Winkie is loved by the little kids tho. I just make sure to put him on & off of the kids for the safety of their little fingers. There's a now 8 year old girl who is in love with birds - she told me she wants a TOO! Her older brother also enjoys birds (he's a jock, but there are always surprises).
