My suggestion is
(if at all possible) to
not shoot for just the bare minimum. I suggest
(as I have before, numerous times, to all members here & on other boards) to build/attach a very roomy long flight right onto one of the windows of your home
(preferably facing east/south/southeast for morning sun - outdoor birds love to warm themselves first thing in the morning). I have flights attached to many of my own windows btw. I take out the screen permanently and put a wire door into the side of cage that is attached to the concrete walls of the Compound Castle with concrete screws and fender washers. I use a galvanized sheet metal roof with overhangs on the three sides..... One can simply then just open the window, then the wire door
(with no chance of escape for your flighted bird). If trained properly, your bird should just fly into the home to a perch or onto your finger at which time you can interact with him/her/it during the day or eve as you choose. You can even keep indoors in another cage for sleeping overnight and then after breakfast put back outside where your bird can go into the direct sunshine or get out of it whenever he/she/it pleases. I would not buy a store-bought-type-cage to carry in and out for sun exposure - for safety reasons etc......
This flight I am suggesting for attachment to your home is extremely easy to fasten together - all you need is a couple simple tools and some wire crimps (hog rings they are called or J-clips), a roll of GAW wire, a sheet of sheet metal and VOILA - your bird will be in birdie heaven IMO & IME!!!!! If ya seriously intend to do it, I'll supply: the directions, list of tools and pics - all you have to do is like the Nike commercial says = "Just-Do-It!!!
Try not to find excuses not to do it, like some people will do. Your bird will thank you for your time & effort in his/her/its own way and give you many years of healthy & happy companionship, usually far more years than clipped, small-cage bound birds that are stuck inside for their whole lives - whether or not they have a picture window or etc. to look through, etc...... JMO.
