Default Too needs a home...FREE

My neighbor has an Umbrella Cocatoo that has a prolapst vent and needs surgery. She was told it would cost $500 and just can't afford it. She want's to find it a good home with someone who will take care of it's medical needs....Anyone?

Poor baby. I hope somebody can take this baby in and give it the medical attention it needs!

It's a crying shame people can't/won't pay for their own bird's medical needs. Y'all know me, I believe: "Where There Is A Will, There Is A Way".

However, complaining about people isn't going to help this bird. If someone doesn't step forward real soon like, to take the bird and have what surgery is needed performed asap, then I suggest as many of us that can, donate some $$$ to help this bird get it's surgery quickly. Maybe Susan will be able to take the bird in herself (?) to a good A.V. to insure it gets the care it needs and to provide us the proof & periodic updates so we truly know that the bird got the best care possible in the area? Anyone willing to join me in donating (?) - Susan, are you up for this idea? If not, I understand completely, as you seem to have a lot on your plate these days. Hugs!

Btw, I would hope the current owner herself would kick in a chunk of the costs (whatever she can afford), even if she truly (?) can't afford it all. What happened to vets accepting payments?

This is the neighbor who took in five large fids all at the same time (about two years ago) She was pregnant at the time and is again.
She really only want's the bird to have a good home at this point. I will try to get ahold of Lynda tonight. I have also contacted my bird club here....Thanks Joel...Lets wait and see though.

I agree ~J~ and will KICK in. I think accepting payments has had to be stopped because of all the deadbeats out there. There IS, however a credit line you can apply for at the vets.

There are people who just dont come back for their animals, at vets or from boarding. Every vet I know has multiple pets dumped by people. One cat who dragged herself around with her front paws at my vet's clinic. He didn't have the heart to euth her She was fast as lightning and flew through the air lol.

Even on our eBay board we have a gift exchange twice a year and invariably some dope stiffs his gift-ee and people have to run around at the last minute, so now we have backups so the poor person getting stiffed... doesnt lol.

Then there's the other end of the spectrum like on our Megaesophagus board some people have unlimited funds and time and no money is enough to keep their dog alive with that horrible illness.

I have a list around somewhere of organizations that will help with money. If I find it I'll post it.

(/de-ranting now)

Got in contact with Lynn Jupiter. She will most likely take the too in at the rescue and hold a fundraiser for the surgery. She will then find a good home for her.
If this falls through...Plan B, Joel.

Thanks Susan for all that you are doing to help this poor unfortunate 'Too.
I assume Lynn will decide soon & then get the bird in asap for that surgery as if I am not mistaken, it should not be put off until funds are found/raised. Maybe Lynn's A.V. willl allow her to have the surgery done & pay later.

Please post openly or pm me Lynn's mailing address so I can send her a donation to help out a lil bit.

Btw, just to clarify regarding "Plan B": I am not interested in sending current owner any funds for the bird but willing to contribute some - if you or someone else we know & trust on this Board will take the bird in personally & oversee its care -making sure the vet doesn't take advantage of our willingness to help which I have known to happen in certain cases. JMO.

Btw, how is Lynn these days? I hope she stops in when she can or maybe she has & I just missed her.

Lynda now has the bird and will be taking it for surgery at 1:00. She will then have it at the rescue up for adoption...yes, any donations can be made to her rescue.
