OR OR OR wheel her cage to the bathroom, face the door to the open door of the bathroom if it wont fit inside....then....go in there and open her cage door and she'll come out into the bathroom.....maybe ......lol......requires blocking her from the top of her cage if you dont want her up there.

I got her in!!!!
I put the dog CRATE in her room, next to her cage, put all of the worlds good stuff there, her toys/ and some CHEESE. Been awhile for the cheese. But, I put it in there, and she just walked right from her cage into that one. I used that cue. "Let's go home Cleo" and she went in. She's such a good girl!
But, she is different. She's very distant. Hardly even any head scratching now in the past week or two. I hate that. She used to like it.
It seems that now that she's fully flighted all of a sudden, she's stopped interacting as much.
I don't want to have her clipped. But, I Feel glad that I can now take her to the vet at least to get a checkup. She has NEVER seen a vet.
I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
Thanks to those who encourage others with their posts.

She is a good girl. Don't read her as distant. That's not psychologically possible for a parrot they are flock loving and require at least a mate if not a flock (which they do)...so she will NEVER EVER NOT want you. What you see with her is a bit of confidence. And losing clingy dependent scared feelings and branching out into feeling that this may be her home and territory.

So instead of her being stuck on one spot predetermined by others she has baby sized choices. Every change with a parrot is so incremental and slow then you see a difference and think it happened overnight but it didnt. Just like svolk's Winston on that breakthrough thread it took ALOT ALOT of months.

You dont want that physical head thing and only cuddly contact that can only mean one thing to a parrot....breeding. They are all about biological imperatives....food, shelter, procreation....then smaller stuff like enrichment and fooling around with the flock but the first three outweigh everything else.[notice I omitted "flight" as a courtesy to you ]

edited to add good job with the cue now you know what will work forever with her and the clicker too...so try and remember to always say it now when you "really" mean it followed by a reward and it'll work. Thats how I got my Parrotlet recall trained although she was highly motivated, admittedly, but now both will come on queue and especially to a perch (unlike Cleo they love the perch because it means going somewhere cool)......even from the 9 foot entertainment center or the ceiling fans. Also I should have said the behavior thing is provided she has no physical illness ....being sick will make them distant and introverted and sometimes being calcium deficient will make them very hyper and agitated.

The night before the vet appt, wait until she is asleep in the dark (you can use a small flashlight) and then grab her with a towel and put her in her cage. No biggie.

As to her been 'unmanageable', why didn't you teach her recall? It's not that hard to do and very practical when it comes to fully flighted birds.

As to the link, I thought nobody was allowed to post links to other bird sites. Has that rule changed?

Great Mark! I've been reading this entire post and when I got to you saying "I got her in" I was so relieved for you!

She will be back to her old self in no time. Don't worry about that. Ryan has his "off" times too.

Good luck at the vet!

Beatriz, Mark just rehomed this bird and she was not handleable and he has been doing a form of recall with clicker and she has been responding. This bird has a long history....

The rule is to other Message Boards not bird sites:

11) No advertising or linking to other Bird/Parrot related message boards will be allowed in posts or signatures.

The site that our host Stizby posted was to a random page not a board.

Great job getting her into the carrier with no problems! Good luck at the vet's office, I think she'll do fine. Now you on the other hand, you may be traumatized

Nicely said. As the Admin says THANKEEE!!! It's been a hard time taking Cleo on, number one.
But, I got her safely to the vet's office. I covered her cage in the truck so she wouldn't be scared. She was growling underneath.
But, we listened to some xm chill, talked awhile and got there ok. The avian vet is supposed to tend to her this afternoon and I'll bring her back home.
Thanks for the supportive posts.
