Hey ya'll! Since July 4th was Cleo's birthday, I just thought I'd drop in and let you folks know how we are doing. I've been very busy as I now own and run a camping forum, much like this one. (But this one is prettier. LOL)
It's hard, labor of love I guess, but I enjoy it. Have brought a lot of camping people together.
This crazy Cleo is doing just great. I think we have overcome some major problems with hormones. The days seem to have limited themselves in hours and she is more even keel. She's still doing her waving tricks and putting change in the cup. She'll now give me 4 and that's fun. She spends her days outside in the shade in her outside Macaw cage and that works well for her. She comes in late in the day and spends time with us then off to bed. She'll actually go to my son some now. I had to get her clipped again recently as she was becoming more aggressive. If you can recall the first clipping it was an event. This one didn't go so bad. She's easily transported now in her carrier and steps up most of the time. Funny: the girl at the vet said she was much better than last year when she was clipped. I said, "you worked here last year?" She said no, but I've heard the stories about her.

She still isn't talking much but she is starting to say Hiii on cue now. And it's funny she actually has adapted her original Hiiiii that had a long "northern" accent to "haaaayyyy" which sounds more like us.
I take her to my mom and dads and she enjoys that, they like her too, but they are scared to death of her. I actually took her to a church gathering and she absolutely showed out. Did all of her tricks and even crowed like a chicken. The kids loved her. She seemed much more at ease with the kids than I would have expected. It was her first outing witha lot of kids. I let them feed her some treats and she did her tricks for them. No petting.
They mostly just wanna look at her. Although one redneck tried to get his little girl to go up and "pat hur on tha heeaaad". I said I don't think you want any bloodshed at the church function, so I wouldn't recommend that just yet buddy.
I'm spending time with changing her from my arm to my son's. I think that transition is helping her become more comfortable. And letting HIM take her into neutral areas where she is more dependant on him. He's very good with her for his 11 years. I'm proud of him. My wife and daughter just wanna look at her and tell her hiiiii. no touchy...
So, that's about the size of it for us. I'm very happy with the crazy ole bird. She was 5 on the 4th. I'm not looking forward to breeding season again. It was aweful....
I hope all of you are doing well and your birds are prospering. I hope the fourth gave you lots of burgers and fries and fireworks. I hope that when you nest down tonite, your birds are happy and healthy and wise.
I apologize for extended absences, but I do value this board and ALL of the members and their birds a lot.
OUR best to
ALL of you
Mark and Cleo.......
