Cleo's song.......

Ok folks, below is not a pretty story. Mark

I did some more digging around about Cleo.... Funny how lips loosen up when you no longer have the bird.... She belonged to a young man. He kept her until she was in the terrible 2's. All birds start behaving a lil bad at that age. He didn't want her then and she took her back. She stuffed her in with a male Zon and he tore her up. (That is why she had so many feathers missing when I saw her.) She sent her to the pet store to sell on consignment. (This is why she was so concerned about what we paid for her) Cleo sat on the front counter for awhile and a lot of people held her and teased her. When the new wore off, she started biting. The girl at the pet store would yank her hand out from under her and drop her on the floor. Of course it hurt because she had absolutely no flight or tail feathers.... Dropped like a rock!!!! (This is why she doesn't want to step up!) Then she was stuffed into a hampster cage and set in the back of the store.... Then she came home with me. I could tell she had been someones Baby at one time.

Cleo is going on 4 years old. She is starting to outgrow the terrible 2's. You have yourself one AWESOME bird there!!!!

Now, from that to this!

She is definatly the "Most improved" bird of 2007!

What a horrific story. Poor, poor Cleo. I'm tearing up just thinking of where she could be if it weren't for you. You truly saved this bird Mark.

Oh poor sweet Cleo. No wonder she didn't trust people. I wouldn't have either. I would feel the same as you, I would want to bounce that lady on her head a few times too. But some where deep down inside Cleo, she must of had just a little glimmer of faith left, and when you came along she must have known you were going to be the one, her Knight in shinning armor!!! Mark, you've done an amazing job with Cleo, gaining her trust, and re-kindling her love, I say you both deserve a metal for all that you've been through together. You are an inspiration to us all !

Oh my God Mark. This was upsetting to read. What is the matter with people? For the life of me, I cannot, nor will I ever understand how some people could abuse a bird, or any animal for that matter. Clearly there is something wrong with them, and they should be treated exactly how they treat animals.

You are doing an amazing job with Cleo. I've been following you around here! Cleo is adorable, and I have no doubt that some day she will get over her fears completely. The picture above says it all. Thank God you found her!

Wow Mark that is horrific! Poor dear sweet Cleo. You saved that baby from a miserable life, you are a wonderful person! Both of you are lucky to have found one another. It's easy to see now why Cleo behaves the way she does. You have showed her so much love and trust...she has DEFINITELY come a very very long way.

Despite the bites, and all the other issues (which you are ALWAYS overcoming)...deep down in her sweet tiny birdie heart...she is very grateful to you!

....and so am I!

Good on ya Mark...it takes a special person to love a troubled bird!

what a rough life the poor angel has had. BUT it has a happy ending. i am very happy that you found her when you did, and fairly early in her life. you patience and love with her is very commendable. it really warms my heart to know what you do for cleo
