Default Cathedral Park

Z wanted to go somewhere we'd never been here, before. Not easy to find after 8 years of exploring. However, we've never been to Cathedral Park in NoPo, where my father used to jump off the base of the bridge as a kid, and get into trouble with his parents and the police while he was at it....

So we went today, and took Mikey Blue and Ceilidh Ceilidh Mama's Boy with us. Beautiful, after the clouds had parted. Except for the fact that Ceilidh wouldn't leave his harness alone (a Feather Tether, and it was bothering him, as he's full of pin feathers), everyone had a good time.

In this photo, you can see where the park got its name. The bridge supports look a lot like cathedral windows:

And here is Z with my boyos, showing why he thinks he should be in the "Luxurious Flowing Hair Club For Scientists"....

And some more pix of my handsome hubby and adorable goons:

There was a lot going on in the sky that got Mikey and Ceilidh's attention, including this old biplane! Sorry about them being fuzzy--that plane was a few hundred feet in the air, moving fast-ish, and I was using my digital camera zoom.......

Some birds sat on a stump. The stump thunk the birds stunk.... oh, nevermind. Wrong tonguetwister :-):

And finally, one of those fine teachable moments, when a bunch of interested teenage boys come ask questions about the birds. Lots of people asked about the birds and wanted to pet them. Questions always went like this: 1) What kind of birds are they? 2) Can they talk? 3) Can they fly? 4) Do they bite? 5) Can I pet/hold one, please? It was great!! These young men ALL were brave enough to hold Mikey Blue. Ceilidh, however, preferred to hide on my shoulder when they tried :-):

Now it's off to BBQ some meat. I hope you all are enjoying the day :-).

Those two are always perfectly well-behaved :-). It's Bob up to his antics (everything spooks him!) and Arthur trying to chew all of me at once (it's a loving thing with him :-)) that gets a bit "interesting" from time to time in public!

Thank you :-). I think they're beautiful--but I tend to overlook the fact that all of them are going through a heavy molt, too. Really, the whole lot of them look pretty raggedy at the moment! LOL!

The goon squad looks great outside. There's nothing better than seeing a Macaw out in the sun.

Great pictures!! I just love their sweet faces! How nice that you got to spend such a wonderful day sight seeing and being able to take Mikey and Ceilidh with you. I bet there's a few people around town this evening telling their families about the beautiful birds they saw today!

Z is an even 6' tall and weighs 215 lbs. I suspect the Goons may look small because both of them have only their shortest tailfeathers--they take great joy in pulling on each other's! LOL! I haven't weighed either of the boys in awhile--I suspect, though, that Mikey weighs around 1250 grams, and Ceilidh in at just about 1000 grams. They're both of the lean, stringy muscular types, rather than the bulky "body builder" muscular types :-).

I will say, tho', that Z has the sexiest muscular arms and legs I've ever seen on a non-bodybuilder. He's incredibly strong. You'd never suspect it of a computer geek, but he loves to wrench on cars, build things, and generally do the kinds of things that strengthen his body as well as his mind :-). One thing you might notice he DOESN'T like to do, though, is shave--I have to remind him to do that on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or he'd always look like he does in these pix :-).
