Default Can birds smell?

I know a lot has been written that birds do not smell very well. I am not convinced of this. I made little ball treats tonight and my birds got out of bed to ask for a taste when I took out of the oven. They had to wait for it too cool but I was surprised since they never get out of bed. How do they know if they can't see? They do also ask for popcorn but they may be able to hear the popping. They never react to other things getting cooked.

They can if you don't give them a bath often enough!

Or in my case, Jean would wet himself with his water bottle thing in his cage when I brought home restraunt bread from work and he'd roll in it so he'd stink every other day from the yeast. Would you believe it took me 3 weeks to figure that out?

Also, I don't think they can smell well because my brother has "Cracked one off" in the close vicinity of my parrot before I could run over and slug his face out and Jean seemed completely unphased by the horridenous stench.
