Default Blue is gone!

I am just sick.
My little Blue is gone.

I take the smaller birds outside in their cages every day. I stay with them other than to run in for a cup of coffee or to use the bathroom. Blue was out for about a half hour when my son pulled up with youngest grandson who is four. My son and I were sitting there talking when all of a sudden...Blue flew. Yes, my youngest grandchild decided that he would like to get Blue out of his cage.

I searched for him for three hours and then again for another two. Blue was Tims fid and he was devistated by what he had done. Try explaining to a four year old that it was wrong without making him feel guilt.

Tim and I came in and made posters then walked all over tacking them to posts in the neighborhood.

I am certain we will never see Blue again. I gave up looking for today but will try again tomorrow. I left his cage outside with food, water and the door open. I don't know what else to do. I even took the budgees out to try to entice him with their chatter.

A lost add will be in the paper tomorrow.
I am beside myself. I have never lost a fid before. From now on, locks go on all the cages for when they are outside.

Susan, don't give up hope! Keep looking and spreading the word in your neighborhood that you are looking for Blue. Kids seem to have the best eyes when it comes to spotting birds -- maybe see if there are any neighborhood children willing to be enlisted to help you find Blue. I'm so sorry this has happened -- Tim must feel so awful (such a hard lesson for a little one). Keep us posted, okay?

From the posters, I have gotten one call and that was from a 10 year old boy. I offered a reward and he was calling to ask if the bird came when you whisle. You are right...it will be a child that finds him.

I wish ya had a trap cage at home?

Don't give up Susan, as I have had a Fid escape before, back a day or so later. Keep eyes and ears especially open in early morning & around 4-7 pm. He might hear your other birds whose sounds will attract him hopefully.

Susan, I'm sorry this happened! You might also check with nearby pet stores because if someone finds him, they might go buy a cage or, least, some bird food for Blue.
