From the pictures that have been posted of Gulliver he appears to be a very health bird. He will no doubt pass a physical examine to enter the states.
I hope the news media keeps up with the story of Gulliver as it will surely help with his coming home.

Hello, Gary. I am unfamiliar with the person/s on Christmas Island who will be the caregiver of Gulliver for the time he's there. Unknown to me, as well, is how long the authorities on the island will tolerate his presence.
We believe they may only allow up to thirty days, and that is not enough time to do what must be done. And we have no influence with the authorities there, so Gulliver is in some danger on Christmas for that very reason.
You're right about his state of health. He has actually been cared for by a wonderful, if poor, person on Fanning Island since early last December. There is video of him at
Gulliver’s Island: Dedicated to saving one special bird. but it doesn't dwell on him long enough - it's more of an overall look at where he's being kept.
I believe Gulliver can be saved if enough people who care get involved. There
has to be a way.
