He clings to the side of his cage if he even catches a glimpse of me walking by---his cage is super big and he has plenty of toys--he's in the room with two other birds that is bright and sunny----the tv is playing most of the time....

He's a bit on the skiddish side and If I leave him out of his cage I'm never sure what he'll do---once he flew over to have a chat with "Evil Ethel"

-----he would just rather be with me and not sure the "kind" folks at work would understand.

I just feel a bit guilty I guess that I cannot "always" be with him.

I understand fully!! Zoey is exactly the same way.

I have guilt here also, lots of it! Kady and I have a very close connection, and he's like your Hawkhead, he wants nothing other than to be with me all the time. I had to position his cages so that he doesn't have view of me when I can't be with him or he is very unhappy.

When he hears me and feels he's being ignored he starts with the endless, "Com'ere","Com'ere","Com'ere", he says this in all different voices and tones, until I finally listen!

How about a U2 who will stretch her leg through her cage bars and open & close her foot like she is trying to clutch something? Izzy does that anytime she sees me off a bit and we make eye contact. It's her way of calling me to her cage -- and it almost always works!! LOL

sounds so familiar.... i love valo to pieces, and what breaks my heart every single day is the look that he gives me when i walk out the door to work.... it's like "please, come back, stay... don't go away, i wanna play"

it sucks because it starts the days off badly for me... but then, it's nice to come home and being able to spend time with him.... (except those things when he simply can't be with me - like doing dishes, had a screaming bird for 40min yesterday and clean dishes )

Oh yeah, I HATE telling the birds that I have to leave for work, Jerry especially gives me that sad look.

Bee, when I'm cleaning in the kitchen and have the sink running (like fish tank water changes) with the birds caged, the birds usually start making some racket. Then I just turn on a radio so we can all hear it and it's turned into a nice singing session between all of us. They don't scream anymore, it's more like "YEAH let's all sing and dance and be loud together!!"
