Default Bird Toys

Please choose the option that best represents your usual means of obtaining toys. Feel free to elaborate!

I make the majority of Ollie and Dakota's. I do order ALL toy parts online, and occasionally buy a few cool-looking toys if I'm already making a toy parts order. I always only buy toys that I can't easily make myself, so they get some extra variety.

I've purchased a few toys in pet stores, but I prefer not to. I'm worried about "germys," and the toys online are better than what is sold in the stores around here anyways.

I made a lot of toys myself, but also buy any that look good and are on sale. The petstore that I go to the most doesn't sell animals, yet has two adopted CAG's that greet you when you walk in, has the BEST selection of toys and the best staff. That's usually where I end up buying them, even if they are a little expensive.

Camille, I do exactly what you do. I do like looking in the one nice bird store we have here to get ideas though.

In my area the majority of toys are not packaged and I have always questioned this practice in a store where they have birds in and out, birds shopping and people touching them. So I try to stick to only purchasing packaged toys or ones I know I can completely wash without wrecking them before using them.

When I was new to birds, I bought all the toys. But once I got past owning 3 birds, I decided I better look at making some myself. I have bought toys from a breeder, a local pet shop, at bird shows and on-line. I've gotten some from e-bay and bought toy parts from there as well. I always tear apart worn combination toys and combine to make new ones, usually adding new parts to the used ones. I just wish I had more time to make toys!!

Any toy designed to make a parrot forage nearly always gets my attention (and usually my money -- LOL)!! I like to make my guys "work" for their treats and to think!

I make a majority of my toys (buying parts online). Most of the already made toys I buy are ones I can't make - like the acrylic toys, foraging toys, ss toys etc. If one of the online stores is having a good sale, and I actually have some money in the bank - I'll splurge on already made toys.

our toys come from where ever I find them. On line or at pet stores and now bird fairs. I also make a lot of their toys, the easy to destroy types.
