Re: Bird say some letters better than others? I'm not entirely sure that they have a whole lot of trouble with one word or another...just seems to me that they pick whatever words sound most fun/interesting to them.
Maple has a fairly big vocab (about 25 regular words). Although she hardly ever uses them...so frustrating. I KNOW she can say a bunch of things because when all is quiet and we are home alone...just the two of us...and she is in just the right mood...she will converse with me for hours. As soon as Rob walks through the door....nothin'! Maybe she's shy. Her 3 favorites have to be Hello (said very matter of fact-ly), peek a boo, and hi babe (never hi nor babe said alone..lol). Have never been able to get her to say her name though. She says Rob, Robert and Mama...but never Maple.
Harley is a little chatter box. Will talk to anyone that is willing to listen....well...anyone in earshot really. We toyed with changing his name too, but he seems to really like it and says it a lot. "Hi Harley", "Harley good boy", and "C'mere Harley". So we kinda thought it wasn't fair to him to change it. He is babbling an awful lot so I just know there are a lot of new words on the way. Everything is "what's that?"...so curious!
If she doesn't respond to the name I wouldn't feel too bad about changing it. Baby is kinda overused anyway....I call all my animals "baby or babe" on a daily basis. Just more of a general term of endearment then a name that an individual and identify with...if that makes sense...LOL. (IMO) |
