Default Bird Intelligence

Our B&G, Winged Victory plays basketball and is able to choose colors of the balls to drop in the hoop. There are many birds that have been trained to associate. I am always amazed at our bird's intelligence and was impressed by this article, thought I would share.

Wow, that's a great article, and much more detailed than I expected to see on Wikipedia! Someone took a lot of trouble to put that together, and its well referenced too.

We do not have a video camera or we would take one for you. He is too cute..picking the right color and droping it in the net. He gets pretty proud of himself!

A macaw that can distinguish colors and dunk a basketball! Both brains AND beauty! What a combination!

Bird intelligence deals with the definition of intelligence and its measurement as it applies to birds. Ok, I just gotta say it, DUH!!! ehhe

that is a good article.

Great article. Thanks. I also wish you had a video camera. I would love to see him do that.

My Severe, Miro, can pick colors as well- We have trained him with small acrylic shapes and a box to put them in. There are red, yellow, and blue shapes (triangles, circles, and squares). If you dump them out, and tell him to get a specific color, he does it- With probably 98% accuracy, IF he is in a good mood, that is...

He is also very mechanically intelligent- can disassemble nuts and bolts- so we REALLY have to watch him
