Question Bird grooming?

ok, How do they groom a bird? I can see doing nails and beaks, but what else do they do? we don't have too many where I live, so this is a bit new to me.

That's it, really, besides wing clipping. Nails and beaks, and only if necessary. In many cases, if the proper variety of perches and foods are provided, nothing need be done.

Maybe wing feathers also. Most birds trim nail and beaks quite fine by themselves if they have access to a mineral or cement perch or a mineral block. Chewing wood keeps the beak in a good condition.

I didnt think bird groomers could do a whole lot, lol besides beak, nails, and wings. I just do the wings and nails myself then take them in to the vet for their beaks (only if needed, which is rarely). thanks!

I believe only a vet needs to touch a beak. Beak overgrowth can be a sign health problems like liver(yes there are exceptionsbut it's what you think of when it gets long suddenly)...and some serious damage can be done on a beak.

That's all...nails ...and if you keep one or two sanded perches in strategic spots after a nail clip, they will stay short.

I would only let my vet do any grooming anyway. Unless I trusted a local person REALLY ALOT and never let anyone take your bird to another room where you can't go. I have that policy at the vet, too, btw.
