Well, I'd figured it would be nice to let everyone here how Bella is doing with her flying skills.

They're better than last week as in scaring mom without the breaks.

Today was her BEST day.

Her first flight was short from her stand to the end of the table. She landed on the side of the table in the dinning room and pulled herself up. This is from when the radiator made a funny sound. I put her back on her stand and she made a flight to the radiator and I think she was going to go back to her cage.

I put her in the cage to eat and have some play time with her toys there.

Once out again she flew to the floor and then took off from the floor to the dinning room table.

The last flight was into the walk way to the kitchen. There's more to this as instead of running to me she walked to where she can see her jar of nuts. She flew there to get nuts.

LOL I know she was just thrilled to be able to find her nuts. I actually think that's a big deal to them. Just a step of independence in knowing what their world is like and being more secure. Like kitchen foraging lol.

Flying from the floor UP to the dining room table is a good thing. Flying UP is harder than flying straight so YAY for Bella!

(Flying down at any steep angle is not in the near future probably so you'll see her fly across to land on something familiar, and more attainable versus, say directly down to the floor under the table).

Great progress! She'll be learning more and more as the days and weeks go on. I agree with Cindy that it's a great start that she's learning to fly up!

I wish I could of gotten her big milestone on camera video or not. She made the flight to join me in the kitchen and landed on an offered arm. I made a BIG deal about her doing this and rewarded her with a couple of nuts.

Make sure to use a cue word (I use "come'ere") when you see her about to take off towards you. You're already rewarding by giving nuts after she lands on you. That's all there is to starting recall training!

I used her nickname 'Cookie' and got excited. I just said 'Cookie c'mere' and offered her the arm. I made a big fuss about it and she got two nuts out of this one.

There you go! You're off and running......er, flying!
