Beast wishes to announce the hatching of his baby.

This little one is a miracle because Beast is male and hatched 2 babies 18 days after the death of his mate Beauty. Beauty died on the 16th Feb. Beast, even though he was heartbroken and extremely angry with me, (I am the evil person that took his wife to the vet) continued to incubate the eggs. The vet at the time did not believe that Beast would continue alone. He is 12 years old plus, I am not sure exactly how old since he has no band. I have had him 3 years.





Note that he is very angry and has plucked a brood patch, just like a hen does.

His second baby died at 2 days old. This baby will remain with him for as long as he takes care of it. I am hoping this baby will be his companion as the chance of replacing his wife will not be easy. With suns it is not easy to simply repair, they can get very nasty to strange birds.

How sad. I sure do hope he continues to care for that cutie.

Was sad but great happiness has come out of sadness. I will take the baby if I find an empty crop. I am keeping a close watch.

First, I love the name Beast. That is so funny! And second, this is simply amazing! I hope that baby makes it. Please keep us posted!

What a beautiful baby! Beast is such a good daddy!

This brought tears to my eyes. I hope dear Beast accepts this baby as his companion. Angie, I think it's very nice that you're giving them this chance to be together. I hope it works out. Best of luck to both of them.

That is so sad, but, it sounds like he is trying to be a good daddy to his baby.
