Default Baby's forever home and Suprise

Baby has found his forever home. Saturday I met up with a lady who breeds as a hobby, and she took Baby to live with her and be her pet. She also has other GCC's so Baby will have some company. I have already heard back from her, and she said that Baby is just the tamest and sweetest GCC and she is in love to death with him. I am going to miss Baby but I know I did my part of rescuing him from the conditions he use to be in and providing him a home that all his health and nutritional, and loving needs will be met. I feel very comfortable with this lady as she has had everything from Macaws, 2's, Congo's, down to budgies. We talked about diet, and I was VERY happy to hear that all her fids are on fresh fruits and veggies. So Baby will continue to be healthy and happy.

Now on the the good news. The lady gave me a 5 week old baby Quaker that I am currently handfeeding, and just head over heals in love with. She sat down, and told me exactly how she does everything, the amount, the consistency the temperature and then SHOWED me how. She also told me if I needed any help to feel free to call her at any time. And I also have another "local" breeder that would be more than willing to help me if I run into any troubles. However things are going great, he is more or less spoon fed so I don't have to worry about shoving anything down his little throat, and he is alredy experimenting with seeds and I have started giving him a little organic "human baby food" to get him started on veggies and fruits. He is also starting to build up his wings muscles by flapping a lot and will actually, half fly/jump to very short distances. Here are some pics.........before I start getting shot at.

And some more pics................

Right now I do not know the sex, and have not completely decided on a name..........
I've been playing around with the name Petrie (reminds me of the little guy on the Dinosaurs move). By all means if you have any name suggestions fire away!

Great photos
- i have to ask - why give up the GCC & get a Quaker? - aren't they similar in temperament?

Pardon my ignorance as i haven't been following the Baby's story.
Thanks for helping him out.

Lovely Quaker & hope he is a fun guy. Look forward to hearing more & seeing lots of photos. Quakers are a special bird for my husband. Maybe one day he'll have one.

Petrie sure is a cutie.... (love the name)

I'm also glad for Baby that you were able to find him a home where he can be happy and healthy - sometimes we have to know our limits, and no matter how hard it is, let a baby go if it's for the better for the bird!

congrats to the new baby

I hate to be the thundercloud over your sunshine...geesh, I'm sorry I just don't know how to say this except to just say it. You placed Baby with a breeder, and she gave you another bird in exchange. I just can't help but think you have placed him in a breeding situation. (S)he may be well taken care of, but that won't change the fact that (s)he is breeding. My apologies to those on this board who breed, but I have a house full of throw away birds, and ..... well, I just don't advocate breeding ....

I hate to be the Hurricane Wind nudging your Thundercloud out of the way.

You say ya don't advocate breeding (which is fine IMO) but Baby may just have wound up in a far better place with this breeder than in the hands of most pet keepers who probably would clip him and keep him in a less than proper size cage, inside without adequate daily natural sunshine or proper F.S. Lighting and a playmate/mate of his own species, etc..... IMO, nothing could be better for any bird, if it wound up in a breeding situation that WAS DONE RIGHT. Otherwise then I would agree with you. JMO.
