#16 | | | Re: Apple Cider Vinegar and Aloe Detox The apple cider vinegar needs to be the organic, non-pausterized kind and it helps with fungal infections most of all but it also helps with bacterial and viral ones. It is not really necessary if your birds are healthy and you keep them in a clean birdroom and don't keep your seeds and nuts longer than three months but because we really do not know how old our seeds and pellets mixes are, it is also good as a preventive. As to the dosage, it varies according to different sources, some recommend 1/4 cup to a gallon given for a week every three months but I use two tablespoons added to a gallon once a week (the same day that I do the vitamins and the calcium because the fruity taste of the vitamins and the sweet taste of the calcium kind of disguise the taste of the vinegar). Caution: never give apple cider vinegar to a bird that has diarrhea, it would irritate even more the lining of the intestines.
The aloe vera detox is actually Naturade Aloe Vera Detoxifying Formula, it is an organic compound based on Aloe Vera which also has medicinal herbs added to it. It cleanses both the kidney and the liver (two very weak points in birds) by helping them to eliminate toxins (that is what these two organs do as the filters of the body) and tonic them so they can function more efficiently (I was able to bring down high uric acid levels on one of my rescued birds through just diet and Aloe Vera Detox instead of medication). Because the diet we give our birds is actually way too high in protein, both liver and kidneys suffer from it so adding it to their water once a week or so, helps keep them healthy (I use 1/3 aloe vera detox, 2/3 water -it has a very mild, pleasant taste and the birds don't mind it at all).
Both the vinegar and the detox need to be refrigerated after opening. |

As it has to be refrigerated i'd think it is a one day thing. |
