Default Anyone near Los Angeles (east) want a macaw or two?

My son, visiting friends in L.A., just called me. Apparently 2 macaws--1 definitely a Blue and Gold, the other probably a Military--both tame, ages and genders unknown, need new homes, and fast, or they're going to the pound. I've heard about L.A.'s pound--things don't live very long in there.

The thing is, you have to pick them up. I'd bring them up here and try to find homes for them, but it would be much easier if someone local is interested in them. They are supposedly free, and with their cages "if needed". This is all I know about them. My son hasn't seen them--he's just talked to the people about them, and offered them to me. Dog knows, I don't need them, but I'll prolly be able to talk Z into driving to L.A. in an emergency to pick them up if necessary to save their lives. But I would rather see them go to someone who actually wants to give them a loving home, and for whom it wouldn't be a 1500 mile one-way drive to pick them up.

Let me know. I can probably get a phone number for the birds' owner(s). At the very least, I can call my son and pass your info on to them.

I wish you were, too, Arty. From what I've seen of your postings, you'd be perfect for them. Any chance you want to pay to have them shipped to you?

I've offered to go pick up/foster place if needed. I'm two hours away with a truck. Lets all hope these guys land on their feet somewhere special!

Yes I will pay for shipping....But its bitter here yet...shipping isn't possible, not exotics anyways....
I see others reaching out to help.
All you folks are wonderful.....Someday I will be able to care for a "big boy".
If there is someone close enough to help these birds, maybe this is best, as long as they get the help...Thank you for all you are doing to help these birds...
Peace.

Hey thanks :-} Maybe we can't save them all, but we can offer to start one needy bird at a time eh? I need another bird right now like I need another hole in my head. If I am needed in this situation, we'll be there in a flash to pick up and foster, but birdyland is closed right now to permanant residents, permanant big residents ayway. I'm thinking the GIANT finch cage I bought looks empty with two tiny occupants....and I AM going to L.A. (sorta) NEXT weekend for a bird fair.
