another Sophie tale......... Ever since I made that neat little toy for Cricket, the tinker toy playstand thingy, Sophie has been intriged with it. So much so she taught herself to go over to Cricket's cage climb up the cage to go play in it.
Bear in mind Sophie is WAY to big to play in or on it. It has a mirror. Her fascination is the bird in the mirror.
So I take some of the left over parts and put them together all willy nilly and set it on top of Zoey's cage and boy oh boy it is a hit!!! Sophie likes to climb it and make it fall over. Even fall off the cage top!! She was quite proud of herself when she did that. The dowels are small enough that she could shred threw one quick too. What a nut.
Sophie got to go on her first real public outting today too. She went to the video store with me to get movies. Bless her heart, we get to the parking lot and she often does jumps and flaps off into the head wind and gets in her 20 or 30 yard flight and lands in the middle of the road (of my parking lot) and sits, and waits for Papa to come to the rescue. And she is done trying to fly. Climbs on my shoulder for safety and off we go.
I find a BIRD ON MY SHOULDER GETS ME MORE SPACE THEN A DOG ON A LEASH EVER DID!!
As we leave the store, I hear an owl hooting or cooing, whatever it would be called. I'm thinking it has to be a recording to keep pigeons away, its day light and in town!! I made the mistake of looking towards the sound. Yep it was a real owl. My little redhead was ready to go to bat for me too!! She puffed up and postured to kick some butt!! Mr. Owl wasn't even paying us any never mind any how but it was kinda cute of her I think. As I sat in the car she very skillfully nibbled my ear and relaxed for the ride home.
I want to take her for more short trips like today so she doesn't think of the car as something that only takes her to the vet or breeder for wing and nail trims. |
