This is crazy but I kind of understand it. Zoey has been on medication this week since Monday. She hates it with a passion. On the good side of it Zoey can fly now. She doesn't want to at all. But she can. Around the living room. To get away from evil Papa and that medicine squirter!! She backs away from me any time I walk by her cage even. Gives me dirty looks, the whole bit. Sophie has picked up on this. Sophie attacks me every time I go into her cage. Puffs up and nails me. Hard. Hissin' and pissin' a growls and everything. Before this week I would have thought Sophie didn't care less about Zoey.

Oh and the real kicker? Sophie is suddenly my bestest friend in the world when I show up with food!! She went from puffy and pissy to sweet and cudly when I showed up with sprouts!!!

funny thing you mention that............. it just dawned on me as I was rubbing my fingers, could it be coincidence and Sophie is just entering her hormonal stage? This is beyond anything I have seen her do before. She wanted off the play gym. I gave her a ride to her cage and as soon as she was perched. She turned around and tried to nail me!!!

Could be Jim, tis the season. Sorry to hear the Fids are Crumpy (Grumpy & Cranky) though. My two are miserable and I even heard a growl today and of course they think there's nothing better to help hormones than to bite the Mama!!

the more I think about and the more people I ask questions, I think Sophie is just mad and is percieving that I am hurting Zoey and won't let it happen to her. Until awhile ago it didn't enter my mind to do the meds out of sight of the cages!!

Aww Jim, hope those owies heal fast! How old is Sophie now? Isn't she old enough to start feeling those hormone surges now? LOL at the puffy and pissy, sounds like Silk when I try and put her back in her cage.

I have to say...I have always wanted a female Eclectus...but after a year on these boards...I am scared of them! I probably would have one by now...but I really had to reconsider when I learned of the fussy stuff!

The funny part is birds know when you are trying to help them even if they don't like the meds. We have one here that we give vitamin shots and it is a major ordeal to towel him, once we are done he will let me love on him like nothing happened.

That is a good point Jim. My two are always watching carefully if I am doing something with the other one. Sophie might not be so concerned about Zoey as much as trying to communicate to you, to keep that syringe away from HER!!!
